Shaggy Chic Pet Boutique & Spa

“I have always dreamed of working with animals. Since my early childhood, pets have always held a special place in my heart.”

I’m a second generation Californian. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. My dad ran a wholesale pipe and supply company that prospered in L.A.  My father was highly respected in his industry and was known to treat his customers and colleagues fairly in business. I chose to take after him, in that I believe in taking a personal interest in the needs of my customers.

Three years ago, I greatly enjoyed creating Shaggy Chic Pet Boutique. The idea was to combine an upscale pet boutique with a dog spa that offered families and children a caring environment, where their pets would be taken care of. I chose the name shaggy chic because it feels cozy and comfortable and that’s how I want my customers to feel when they walk in. Most importantly, I wanted an environment for pets, where they are free to explore, sniff and wander around to their hearts content.

The primary service we offer is grooming-related. We offer special treatments such as aloe and oatmeal shampoos, brightening shampoo, and no-tear shampoos. We also sell a variety of these products. Anything I don’t believe in, I don’t carry. If I won’t buy it, I won’t sell it.

Since I’ve opened this shop, I notice that a high level of customers bring me dogs that are rescues. The animals they rescue have special needs and for this reason they may be hand-shy or have other issues. We gladly work with them and help our customers focus on how they too might help their pets.

My goal was to create a salon where people feel comfortable dropping by for a visit and where we can all feel a part of a community of pet owners and animal lovers.  The fact is I just love caring for pets and helping others care for theirs. It is as if my dream of making a life working with animals has come round, full-circle.
